Intellectual property is the cornerstone of many businesses. Whether it is new technology, fashionable brands, cutting edge designs or know how of employees it is often intellectual property that provides a business with its competitive advantage. I am interested in understanding my clients’ businesses and identifying how IP can support their business models. I work with clients to develop and execute an IP strategy to maintain and strengthen their competitive advantage. This is how I bring value.
I am passionate about the commercial use of IP and enjoy working with clients who have a genuine interest in understanding the significance of IP to their market sector and using this knowledge to their advantage.
Before becoming a co-founder at BOSH IP I worked in several high level positions internationally. Most recently I was a principal in an Australian Patent and Trade Mark firm responsible for the ICT team in Sydney. In previous roles I was Senior Patent Counsel at Vodafone Group in UK, responsible for international IP matters across the Group, and a patent attorney in a leading London IP firm.
My combination of international professional experiences is rare in the industry and enables me to understand the commercial environment in which my clients operate. I often see matters through a different lens from other patent attorneys, allowing me to bring a fresh perspective.
During my career in IP have have had significant experience of providing IP due diligence advice and this is a growing area of my practice. I often conduct IP due diligence for IPOs, M&A transactions and investment rounds on behalf of investors and companies seeking investment.
On the technical side, I have extensive experience of drafting and prosecuting patent applications in international jurisdictions. My international experience allows me to bring great value to clients with overseas interests. I also advise on contentious matters including oppositions and infringement.
I represent clients across a number of industry sectors including telecommunications, consumer electronics, cybersecurity, medical devices and computer software. I also have a strong interest in the fintech sector.
